Apr 19, 2022 | Rhode Island Airport Corporation Press Release

RHODE ISLAND T. F. GREEN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO OFFER FREE, FLYING FAMILIARIZATION CLASSES

Airport tours and tutorials offered on third Tuesday of each month

WARWICK, RI – Wednesday, April 13, 2022 – The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) is pleased to announce a new customer service initiative to help familiarize new or novice air travelers with Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport (PVD). Starting April 19th, the airport will launch a new “Flying Familiarization Program” which seeks to provide new travelers and those unfamiliar with Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport with an opportunity to visit the airport before travel and learn what to expect throughout their entire airport and aviation experience - from curb to gate to boarding the aircraft.

Free “classes” administered by RIAC’s customer service team will be held on the third Tuesday of each month with options for afternoon or evening classes. The program involves a visit to the airport and overview of every aspect of one’s travel experience. Topics will include parking, airline check-in processes, services and other amenities, an overview of Transportation Security Administration procedures, a tour of the airport departures and arrivals lobbies and an overview of what to expect upon return to PVD.

“Studies have shown that 40% of the general population reports some fear or anxiety associated with flying,” said Tim Pimental, Vice President, Customer Service for the Rhode Island Airport Corporation.  “Others may not have flown for several years due to the pandemic and may be nervous about the “new normal” of air travel. Recognizing the stress that first-time or novice flyers can encounter, the PVD customer care team recognizes that everyone deserves to have a comfortable and positive air travel experience.”

The program is family friendly, and may be of benefit to people of all ages, abilities or special needs to learn what amenities and support can be made available. The first class is scheduled for April 19, 2022. To learn more, or to schedule your own “Flying Familiarization” class, contact RIAC Customer Service at 401-691-2000 or email CustomerService@PVDairport.com.
