FRONTIER AIRLINES ANNOUNCES EXPANSION OF FLORIDA SERVICE
Jun 19, 2020 | RIAC

WARWICK, RI – June 18, 2020 – The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) is pleased to announce a large increase in seat capacity to Florida for the upcoming winter season by Frontier Airlines. The ultra-low-cost airline will offer flights to four different destinations in the Sunshine State, including Miami, which has not had nonstop service from T.F. Green Airport since April 2019.

Earlier this week Frontier Airlines returned to Rhode Island after a two-month suspension of service in mid-April due to reduced passenger travel.   The first resumed service is to Orlando, Florida. The airline is flying three times a week with departures on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Frontier Airlines plans on further expanding flight options this fall, with plans to resume service to both Fort Myers and Tampa, Florida four times a week and make Orlando daily as of November 13, 2020.

Today, Frontier is announcing that on December 17, a new nonstop route to Miami will begin with 5 weekly flights, daily except Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On the same day, Tampa will become daily and Orlando will become twice daily, just in time for the peak Holiday travel season.

Frontier has been connecting Rhode Islands to Orlando since August 2017, Fort Myers and Tampa since October 2017. It previously flew between T.F. Green and Miami between October 2017 and April 2018.

Frontier Airlines has also recently announced proactive steps to help customers have a healthy travel experience, requiring customers to wear a face covering over their nose and mouth throughout their journey, and has implemented touchless temperature screenings for all passengers and team members prior to boarding flights. Individuals with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher will not be allowed to fly, including crew members.   More information is available at https://www.flyfrontier.com/original-cty/#Health

T.F. Green Airport cleaning crews continue enhanced sanitizing protocols, utilizing EPA and CDC approved hospital grade disinfectants, electrostatic sprayers, and automated cleaning technology to efficiently and effectively sanitize escalator railings and other high touch areas throughout the terminal. Passengers are also being encouraged to check with individual airline policies regarding COVID-19 policies, including facemask requirements. Updated links to airline specific COVID-19 travel alerts and safety requirements, are available on T.F. Green’s website at www.PVDAirport.com.
